Jeff discovered yoga in 1986 in his hometown of Gunnison, CO. "I remember walking out of my first class feeling as if I had taken my first full breath! I fell in love with the physical and spiritual intelligence of yoga." In addition to his rich childhood as the son of a Veterinarian, Jeff has a long and diverse yoga background that informed the creation of Avita Yoga®. He appreciates the reflective power of yoga as a moving mediation—an element that naturally finds its way into his classes. Jeff has found that yoga can heal almost anything with a reflective, self-forgiving approach.
Jeff holds two 200-hour teacher certifications and a 300-hour certification and has logged over 7,000 teaching hours in his lifetime. He also heads up Yoga Loft's 200-hour Avita Yoga® Teacher Training program. As a trained Rolfer, he weaves structurally integrative elements into his classes that have practical "off the mat" applications in life. Jeff has been a student of A Course In Miracles since 1990. One of its principle messages, identifying the obstacles to peace and resolving them, provided important insights into understanding yoga's spiritual aspect and creating the Avita method.
Jeff is a teacher. He has a way of reducing the complex to simple, understandable terms. He works with people of all ages to relieve chronic pain and bring more peace to life.

Namaste, I’m Natasja!
I am a registered revolutionary yoga and meditation teacher, Jyotish astrologer, and spiritual life coach.
I was born in The Netherlands. Though my parents were raised Roman Catholic, they openly encouraged spiritual exploration and I was introduced to the philosophies of yoga and meditation from a young age. I found peace through dance, movement, and other creative outlets, so I pursued a formal dance education at Codarts Rotterdam, an internationally-acclaimed school of dance and performing arts.
I emigrated to Canada with my family when I was 19 and brought my love of movement to a career in teaching group fitness classes as an award-winning instructor at Goodlife Fitness. Through teaching, I recognized my passion to inspire others to transform their bodies and enjoy more self-confidence, energy, and zest for life. I found myself drawn more and more to the practice of yoga and loved the feelings of balance and clarity that I gained after every class.
"True happiness is found only in the relationship you foster with your own heart and the hearts of others."
It was the devastating loss of my sister in 2002 that really ignited my journey of self-discovery, self-realization, and self-actualization. Through despair I was able to move into a deep spiritual awakening and I thank my sister for that amazing gift – it lead me to complete my 200-hour Yoga Teacher Training with well-known yoga teacher; Shiva Rea, and to open Fusionmovement Yoga Studio in the summer of 2009.
Through my awakening, I have learned that the physical aspect of yoga is just the doorway – the most significant impact yoga has is on the mental, emotional, and spiritual bodies of a person. The word “yoga” means to unite, to unite our body, mind and spirit. It is my service to humanity to allow each person to come into complete alignment with who they truly are, to allow each person to fill material voids with real purpose and to return to mindful, heart-centred living.
To do this, I feel a duty to myself and to my students to continuously learn and evolve my teachings. I completed my training at the school of Kripalu and am now a certified Ayurvedic Health Practitioner. Just last year I spent a month in the Himalayas studying Jyotish Vedic Astrology with master teacher Anand Mehrotra at the Sattva Yoga Academy and I have plans to do more intensive training later this year.
Over the years I’ve been lucky to lead several international yoga retreats in Costa Rica. I’ve presented at the International Toronto Yoga Conference and at the World Fitness Expo in Toronto and I’m always honoured to teach at local schools, businesses and community events.
MY TEACHING PHILOSOPHY:
Yoga is for everyone and for every body! I take pride in my ability to teach the same class at multiple levels so that every student feels safe and balanced in mind, body, and spirit. I teach lively, passionate, and dynamic yoga classes and love to interweave little pearls of wisdom to create a little magic.
My vinyasa flow classes begin with grounding movement meditation and breathing (pranayama) practices. Each class has a different theme and/or peak pose, and movements are sequenced so that the body and mind are completely prepared to move into the peak pose. During in-person classes, hands-on-enhancements are provided throughout the class so that students can experience a deeper embodiment of the pose. I end with a 10-minute shavasana and/or meditation and I love to leave each student an oracle card to read at the end of their practice.
My therapeutic yoga classes are very gentle and restorative in nature. I love to use essential oils and therapeutic touch to create a nourishing experience for each student. The classes incorporate breathing (pranayama) practices, mudras (sacred hand gestures), and/or myofascial release techniques.
Music is an important component to all of my classes. To me, music is like adding spice to food, therefore creating a richer and deeper experience of the yoga practice.
